David Koster is an old friend of the gallery and we have watched with interest the development of his style from bold large scale lithographs of wild animals to the delicate detailed watercolours and prints of birds, butterflies and flowers which are so popular now. He was born in London, studied at the Slade and has lived for many years in Folkestone. He is a founder member of the Society of Wild Life artists. He has taken part in numerous one man and group shows, including the Arts Council, the Royal Academy, the Metropole, Folkestone, the Ashgate, Farnham, Heal`s and many others. Works have been purchased by businesses and public bodies; Wimpeys, Orient Shipping Co., the GPO, British Rail, the Department of the Environment, Berliner Graphotek, Thames Television and also by a great number of museums, some thirty in all over the country, Winchester, Oxford, Wakefield, Wilts, Oldham, Eastbourne, Sheffield, New South Wales, Swindon, Yorkshire and many others - and of course they figure in many private collections. He executed a mural for the Royal Veterinary College, London.
