Picture restoration & cleaning
Be it an old print, watercolour or oil painting, your picture may, with time have deteriorated so that it lacks sparkle and will require cleaning. In the case of an old print or watercolour the paper may well have been made from linen and use of this material in manufacture often resulted in metal buttons accidently being ground down and where this occured brown spots a condition known as foxing and due to rusting will be evident. This condition can be remedied.

In the case of an older oil painting, the varnish overlay may have taken on a brown tinge. By removing this varnish layer and replacing it with a modern varnish not susceptible to this defect, the original vividness of the oil paints can be restored.

Frame restoration
We also repair and restore damaged ornate gilt picture frames.

The Restorer
Terry Turness Pearson, our Restorer, studied Fine Art at the Beckenham Art School. He has been working as an independent restorer for the last thirty years, during which time he has done conservation work for various museums and has dealt with numerous pictures for the trade. He has developed a unique method for the restoration of damaged water colour drawings. Mr Pearson lectures on Fine Art and acts as a valuer of paintings for various Auction Rooms and the Kent Constabulary.
